New Drum Cover: Surface Pressure

Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. Quite a bit has been going on, and maybe at some point, I’ll get into it as I work the atrophy from my blogging chops.

In the meantime, I wanted to share a drum cover from a song that’s really resonated with me lately. The song “Surface Pressure” from Encanto, the latest Disney movie. That movie especially speaks to me right now as well.

Hope you enjoy!

New Drum Cover – “The Greatest Showman”

The same day that I recorded a drum cover for “Locked Out of Heaven”, I also had some time and recorded a cover for the title song for The Greatest Showman – then I forgot about it for two months. I finally stumbled across it today and wanted to share it with you!

If you haven’t seen The Greatest Showman, you’re missing out on a really underrated movie with an awesome soundtrack! My daughters really enjoyed it and the songs will definitely stick with you afterward!

I hope you experience the same joy in watching this video as I had recording it!

New Drum Cover – Bruno Mars’ Locked Out of Heaven

I finally found some time to get back to recording drum covers again, this time pulling out a song that’s been around for a while, but that I couldn’t pass up: Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven”.

This song isn’t so much a re-interpretation as it is just a rendition of a really awesome drum grove. My favorite part is during the chorus when I get into a “big toms groove”, then going straight back into a fast hi-hat pattern.

I’d love to hear what you think! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did recording it!

New Drum Cover – 365

After a five year hiatus, I finally got back around to recording a drum cover! The song that brought me back out of retirement – Zedd’s 365 (feat. Katy Perry).

Hopefully, this will be the first of many more drum covers to come. Previously my barriers were YouTube’s content takedown policies, especially in contrast to the amount of time it took to produce a video. In the years since my last drum cover I’ve gotten more efficient at video editing, and for the most part drum covers are accepted by most artists. Now my only barrier is trying to find the time to practice and record the drum covers.

I’d love to hear what you think and if you have any song suggestions for future covers.

Drumming to support St. Jude’s

Drumming to support St. Jude’s

I’m honored to be taking part in the Drumming Up Hope Foundation’s 3rd annual Drum-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.  On Friday, May 25 at 6 pm, I’ll be doing my part to carry on the 81 hours of continuous group drumming over 4 days, and am looking for generous souls to sponsor me in this cause.  100% of your donation will go towards St. Jude’s Children Hospital.  Any amount, no matter how small, will go a long way towards supporting this great cause.

Donate $10 – Request A Drum-along Song

While drummers are taking various approaches to their hours, I am dedicating my time to playing along with requests made by donors. For every $10 you donate, you can request any song and I’ll add it to my drum-along mix and will send you a video later on if you’d like.  Do you have a favorite song that has an awesome drum part? Perhaps you have a song that you’d like me to give my take and provide a drum remix? Maybe you’ve always wanted to hear a heavy drum remix to one of your favorite Disney songs? You could even just mess with me and throw me a curveball in the form of a classical song – I’ll play anything you’d like!

I only ask two things of your request:

  1. That it clocks in at less than 5 minutes or so (no In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida unless you’re willing to donate $40)
  2. That there’s a clean version of the song since the event is family-friendly.

Use the button below to donate and write your song request in the “Special Instructions” or email it to me at romeyinfc [at] Gmail [dot] com.  If you’d prefer not to use PayPal, please email me and we can set up alternate arrangements.

[Removed the button since this is now over – thank you to all those that helped!]

Also, I’d love for you to come out and join me at the Drumathon at Thunder Mountain Amphitheatre in Loveland. Admission is free and I’ll be there Friday, May 25 from 6pm-7pm, but the drumming start 10 am Thursday, May 24 and carries forth through Sunday, May 27 at 7 pm. Bring your own ear plugs!

Thank you so much for your support! I’m super pumped for this awesome event!
